A lot of work goes into putting this newsletter together and I greatly appreciate the support of our sponsors so please patronize them wherever possible.
If you would like to advertise in this newsletter and reach more than 35,000 captive residents and businesses in Frisco and the surrounding communities, many different opportunities are available to you. It’s the most efficient and cost effective form of advertising in this area so please email sales@mattlafatamarketing.com for more information.

Up for grabs, compliments of JACK FM: two prime seats (section 15) to tonight’s Texas Rangers game at 7:05pm. First person to email the correct answer to this music question wins… What do Queen and Duran Duran have in common? Email me at matt@mattlafata.com with the answer for the tickets.
With the much needed rain this past weekend, and the cooler temperatures, please consider watering less to help us save water. We are still under Stage 3 restrictions (watering once a day, on your trash day), and are in a serious drought condition. We all need to do everything we can to conserve even more than we have been.
Our own FC Dallas Major League Soccer team has a game this Saturday, September 23 at Pizza Hut Park here in Frisco. Visit www.fcdallas.net to purchase your tickets today. The game is at 7:30pm and the gates open at 6pm. The first 5,000 kids through the gate will receive an FC Dallas soccer ball.
The City of Frisco Public Library is now open in Frisco Square. There was a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony Thursday night as the City Hall/Library building is named after a great City Manager and an even greater man, George Purefoy.

Newsletter Sponsor – Profitpointe – Keeping your tax and bookkeeping on target:
Profitpointe Tax and Bookkeeping is unlike the typical accounting and CPA office because Profitpointe works to educate their clients with tax saving strategies. Many of their competitors simply translate the information you bring to them into a tax return. Only you live your life and if you don’t know exactly what to bring in to the tax preparer, you could easily be missing legal deductions that could save you thousands of dollars off your tax bill. Profitpointe’s experience shows that approximately 70% of business owners and 20% of other income earners overpay their taxes by not fully understanding the law. Profitpointe will educate you to a new vision of financial management choices and tax prevention techniques.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO:
ü Have less financial stress?
ü Pay less in taxes?
ü Organize your bookkeeping?
ü Learn QuickBooks?
ü Have direction with managing your own small business?
ü Incorporate your business?
Profitpointe Tax & Bookkeeping is your source for:
You are invited to get to know Profitpointe Tax and Bookkeeping better by visiting their website at www.profitpointe.com. Profitpointe offers a free review of your past three years tax returns. If it is determined that you have overpaid your taxes by more than double of what the tax preparation fees would cost you, you may want to have the tax return amended. Profitpointe can also help you minimize penalties and interest by amending your return should an understatement of taxes be discovered. Please call (972) 335-6688 for a complimentary 30-minute consultation with their tax professionals.
If you have a business, restaurant or a service and are interested in advertising and reaching more than 35,000 individuals and businesses in Frisco and the surrounding areas, please email us at sales@mattlafatamarketing.com for more details. The newsletter is also included on the web site www.mattlafatamarketing.com and www.frisco-online.com for additional exposure. It’s a great way to promote your business, promote an event at your place of business and is the most cost effective way to reach a large segment of the Frisco population. You may want to also consider providing a special offer to newsletter readers only.
Spotlight on Randy’s Steakhouse:
This interview was conducted with my friend, and namesake of Randy’s Steakhouse, Randy Burks…
Tell us about your restaurant, Randy.
Randy’s Steakhouse serves USDA prime steaks, hand-cut by myself. I left my job as kitchen manager at Del Frisco’s Steakhouse in 1993 to open Randy’s Steakhouse, specializing in prime steaks, fresh seafood, and quality service. We offer over two hundred selections on our international wine list. Randy’s is located in downtown Frisco in a historical Victorian style home built in 1869. We offer seven dining rooms, any of which can be used for private functions. The restaurant is perfect for a romantic dinner for two, or for a business function.
What makes your restaurant unique?
The incredible atmosphere. The patio overlooks a private backyard beautifully landscaped and always available for dining or just visiting. I travel to the farmers market in Dallas to hand select all our produce to insure the highest quality and freshness available. We also have a piano bar, Randie’s, named after my daughter featuring live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings. I make it a point to visit everyone that comes into Randy’s because I believe in a hands-on approach, not to mention the fact that I want our guests to know that I appreciate their business. We can customize a menu for any of your special occasions. We also have wine dinners the last Wednesday of every month featuring five wine courses and a menu created to compliment each wine. Those dinners are a lot of fun and very educational.
How does somebody find you?
We are on the north east corner of Fifth Street and Main Street in historical downtown Frisco, a half mile east of Pizza Hut Park, directly between Preston Road and the Toll Road. The address is 7026 Main Street. You can print a map and get directions from our web site at www.randyssteakhouse.com or by calling us at 972-335-3066.
Everybody loves a special. Any special offer for news letter readers?
For every guest who mentions this news letter, they will receive 20% off an entrée. An offer like this can’t last forever but we will honor it until midnight, October 14.
Randy, that’s great! Not only great food and atmosphere but a discount to boot. What a great country we live in! Anyways, since I love music, what kind of music are you listening to these days?
I have always loved country music, however I find myself listening to classic Rock and Roll from my younger days.
Two of my favorite genres as well. Ok Randy, anything else our readers should know about you?
I am married to my best friend, Susan, and we have a beautiful seven year old daughter named Randie. My mom and dad, Kathy and Don, work hard every day I have been in business to help make us a great restaurant. We’re still, and always will be, a family owned and operated business.
Table of Contents:
Because this newsletter continues to grow in size (there is just so much going on around here!), I have decided to add a table of contents. It’s not a clickable table of contents, yet, it is simply a listing, in order, of everything in this newsletter. For those of you who submit things to me to be added to the newsletter, you may want to consider using descriptive titles for your submission in the future, otherwise I will continue to make them up..
Stage 3 Watering Restrictions Still In Place:
The North Texas Municipal Water District will soon make recommendations to its member cities for enhancing the stage 3 restrictions. I’ll keep you posted on possible changes as they become known to us. One of the items being discussed is prohibiting automatic sprinklers from November 1, 2006 to March 31, 2007. These enhancements will be discussed at the October 3, 2006 council meeting.
As an FYI, for the three summer months, almost 430 million gallons were saved due to these restrictions and around 4,000 sprinkler systems were shut off due to non-compliance. Automatic sprinklers can be one of the biggest water wasters so please check use and water minimally.
Enter Today to be the next Mrs. Frisco:
As wives and moms, sometimes we get so busy with the day-to-day activities of life that we forget to do something for ourselves. Sound familiar? If so, you could be on your way to a new journey of self-exploration, all the while making new friends! If you are a resident of Frisco and married, you’re eligible to compete for the title of Mrs. Frisco 2007. Represent this amazing city and have a year you and your husband will always remember! The new Mrs. Frisco will get her state entry fee paid to compete at the Mrs. Texas United States competition next May! The winner of Mrs. Texas gets an all-expense paid trip to represent the state at Mrs. United States next summer in Las Vegas.

Contestant interviews will be held Sunday, October 29, in Frisco and the winner will be announced immediately following the judges’ tabulation.
There will be complimentary preparation sessions to get all Mrs. Texas contestants (including the new Mrs. Frisco) ready for the state competition, so no experience is necessary. Most women who compete have never done a pageant previously.

Street Painting During Great Steak of Texas Annual Festival:
Saturday,
September 30th - Sunday, October 1st.
You won't want to miss the fun in watching transform Coleman Blvd. in Frisco
Square into colorful canvases on pavement. Artists of all ages will have the
opportunity to display their artistic abilities. If you only draw stick
figures...we want you too! This event is an opportunity to share a wonderful
cause with everyone.
Borrowing from the tradition of Italian street painting, the
Great Steak of Texas annual festival will showcase the talents of local
artists. Paved areas at the Frisco Square is divided into sponsored plots,
where artists create or reproduce images using chalks. The artists or "madonnari"
begin working on Saturday morning of the weekend and continue drawing
throughout the two-day festival. Watching them work and observing the subject
matter they choose is eminently fascinating to visitors. Plus, the amazing
skill and dedication to such a temporary endeavor is admirable. Along with
artwork, music and food can be enjoyed at the GST Festival.
Street painting has a long tradition in cities in Western Europe and probably
started in Italy in the 16th century. The artists who use chalk to draw on the
street are known as "madonnari" or "Madonna painters" because they reproduced
icons of the Madonna. The works are traditionally called street paintings,
rather than chalk drawings or sidewalk art, because when well executed they
can resemble paintings.
Get involved in this year's fundraiser for the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco.
Register your sponsorship as a company, association, group, team, school,
family or individual. You can contact us at
President@VAGF.org and visit
www.vagf.org to see pictures!
We're also looking for artists and volunteers.
- The art created must be suitable for general public viewing.
- Only solid chalk pastels will be used, no paints, liquid chalk, or fixatives
can be used.
- VAGF may use photos or reproductions of the artwork in any manner from the
completed images.

Fourth Annual Frisco Clothe A Child:
Do you remember the feeling of getting to pick out your new school clothes in
the Fall? You felt proud and prepared as you headed back to your friends and
your teachers. Believe it or not, there are some students in our Frisco I.S.D.
that will never have the opportunity to experience the feeling. But, you can
help out.....be a part of the Fourth Annual Frisco Clothe A Child!
Join local businesses, volunteers, Mayor Simpson and churches on
Saturday, September 30th at 6:00 am at Kohl's Department store here in town.
We will be helping underprivileged students in the Frisco school district
obtain $100 worth of brand new school clothing bought with donations from the
community. Each student has gone through a rigorous interview process by the
local school counselors and then the information is passed onto Clothe A
Child. A volunteer shops with each child and makes sur e that the experience
is fun and successful. Last year we clothed over 500 kids and this year our
goal is 600. In order to help out as many kids as possible, we need your
help.
How can I help?
VOLUNTEER: Do you like to shop? Do you like kids? Then you are just the
person we need to assist the students in purchasing their new clothing. Grab
a group of friends and head on over.....free Kripsy Kreme and Starbucks! :)
DONATIONS: For just $100 you can "adopt" a child and get them some great new
clothes for a fresh start to the year. Since Clothe A Child is an official
non-profit, your $100 directly affects the children and you will receive a tax
receipt. If you are a local business owner and would like to make a larger
donation, we accept those too!
TALK : Spread the word about our cause and what we are trying to accomplish on
behalf of our Frisco community. ; If you are involved with an organization or
group that would like to hear more about Clothe A Child, contact us and we
will make sure that your organization is in "the know".
There are those in need in our community. Let's not let another year pass
without helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Join Clothe A Child and
change a life.
