The Outback Steakhouse concept is centered around exceptionally high quality food and superior service. As the name suggests, the menu features steaks and prime rib in an “Aussie” atmosphere. They start with high quality USDA Choice beef, all hand-trimmed, then seasoned and seared with the big, bold flavors you’ve come to love.
In addition to steak, the Outback menu offers a variety of “tucker” that’s aussie for (food) made –from-scratch daily including: center-cut pork chops, barbecued ribs, chicken, shrimp, and a fresh Catch of the Day. With every meal, every dish, and every bite, you'll taste two uncompromising ingredients: big, bold flavors and awesome quality.
Don’t forget to take advantage of Outback’s Call-Ahead Seating, so you can wait from the comfort of your own living room. Just give them a call and they will put your name on the list to shorten your wait when you arrive. If waiting isn’t an option, try Curbside Take-Away just call up, pull up and they’ll bring your meal straight to your car.
Wendy Smith, the local proprietor of the Frisco Outback Steakhouse, and her staff look forward to serving you and your mates a “fair dinkum of tucker and drinks.” There is a Billabong Happy Hour that is sure to be a treat no matter what you are in the mood for. They are located at 9381 State Hwy 121 (corner of Preston & Hwy 121). The hours are Monday-Thursday 4-10pm, Friday 4-11pm, Saturday 3-11 and Sunday from 12-9pm.

Heart Day on the Lake 2006:
Please join us for the 2nd annual Heart Day on The Lake! All proceeds raised from this event go directly towards congenital heart defect research for children. CHDs are currently the leading cause of death within the first year of life and are the most common birth defect. 40,000 children will be born this year with a heart defect - many of those will be right here in the DFW metroplex. The money raised last year has already supported research that could make an impact on any child who must undergo open heart surgery. As parents who lost their child to a CHD, we were shocked to learn about the lack of funding available for research. We need your help to make a difference!
Heart Day on the Lake 2006 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006 from 4pm - 8pm. Again this year, the event will be held on the beautiful shoreline of Lake Lewisville at Cottonwood Creek Marina. We'll enjoy a live performance by Texas' own Jon Christopher Davis as well as a silent auction and a raffle. Activities include the huge Titanic Slide, a pirate ship jumphouse, rock climbing, face painting and more! Enjoy barbecue by Randy White's BBQ as well as various drinks. All activities and Randy White's BBQ is included in the ticket price. Adult tickets are just $12 in advance and $17 at the door. Children's tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Ticket sales will be made available online soon as well as a couple of retail locations (locations will be announced shortly.)
Please come out and enjoy the family fun while supporting a great cause. We are also still in need of donations for the silent auction. Also this year we are accepting monetary donations in memory of loved ones or in honor of survivors. (These donations will be listed on the event program as well as the event website.) We will have a display of heart kids (both survivors and those who have passed on), if you would like a family member's picture included please contact us. We would be honored to include your family member as we remember those who have passed on and those who inspire us to keep the hope alive. For more information please check out the event website at www.hope4tinyhearts.com or email Michelle@powerhousedesigns.com. We hope to see you there!!

This Day in Music History:
Since music is such a passion of mine, I thought I’d start adding some music trivia to the newsletter…
In 1969, the three day Texas Pop Festival took place featuring Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Sam & Dave, Santana, Johnny Winter, Grand Funk Railroad, Delaney & Bonnie, Nazz, Spirit, BB King, Canned Heat and Chicago. Over 120,000 fans attended the festival. Since I was only 1 year old at the time, and not living in Texas, I wasn’t able to attend.
In 1975, KC and the Sunshine Band went to No.1 on the US singles chart with, 'Get Down Tonight', the groups first of five No.1's. Sorry to put this song in your head.
In 1988, Bruce Springsteen's wife Julianne filed for a divorce after newspapers published photos of Springsteen and backing singer Patti Scialfa together while staying in a hotel. Patti and Bruce are happily married today. Some recent nasty rumors of the demise of their marriage have surfaced which Bruce himself came out with a public statement to squash. Just goes to show you that nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors, so people shouldn’t be so quick to judge and believe rumors. Always go to the source for the real facts. Oh, and by the way, Bruce is the greatest singer, songwriter, musician that has ever lived.
In 1989, The Rolling Stones kicked off the Budweiser sponsored 61-date North American 'Steel Wheels' tour at the Veteran's Stadium, Philadelphia. That tour was the last time I saw the Rolling Stones live, in Foxboro, MA, and Miller Lite tastes better than Bud Light.
Frisco Independent School District (FISD) Namesakes:
I frequently get asked who a certain school is named after and why? I wrote an article on this which can currently be viewed at www.aroundtownkids.com. For the foreseeable future, I will cover the namesake behind each school. I’ll cover all the middle schools first and then the elementary schools, doing one per week until we get through all of them.
