Spotlight on…Travel for “You”, Inc.:
This interview was conducted with Tami Gardner, owner of Travel for “You”. We have used Travel for “You” before and had a great experience.
Tell us about your business, Tami:
We are a full service travel agency specializing in individual and group Scuba Diving and Caribbean travel, because I as the owner LOVE to dive and travel. We service several dive shops in the Texas area. That is certainly not ALL we do. We have 6 outside sales agents that specialize is other area such as Europe, Hawaii and Disney and lots of cruises.
Our staff of 11 is here to serve “YOU” with all your travel needs. We truly love what we do. We started the business right after the 9-11 scare when other travel companies were going out of business and processing refunds.
It’s great to see somebody love what they do so much…and it really shows. What makes you different from your competition? What makes your business unique?
Our agency is very different because we know our clients personally and pay commission back to the people that do the work. Most of our clients we see face to face, we travel with them on groups, we know then personally. Most of our referrals come to us because someone had a good time on one of our trips. Our group trips always have a leader that takes care of the details. We actually PAY our leaders a commission on the trips they book, plus we always give away the incentive spaces back to the leader if they qualify for them. All of our agents travel, cruise, dive, snow ski, and are very knowledgeable about the places we sell. We are looking for folks that want to put together a group of 10 or more friends and just don’t want to do all that work for nothing. We think they should earn a commission and a FREE spot if they earn it. We help our group leaders be successful by creating marketing materials they can us, send out e-mails, post events on our web site. Your group will be successful and you will have fun when you book with us.
Ok, now that some of our readers are ready to have you help them with their next vacation, how does somebody get in touch with you?
We have a GREAT web site, www.travelforyouinc.com. It lists all our group trips and shows our travel partner links as well. Each of our outside agents network and bring in new customers all the time. They get out and meet people in person. They still hand deliver travel documents and make sure you have everything you need to have a wonderful trip. We are VERY much an in person agency, we do not depend on the internet to bring us clients or help us keep them for future business as well. OUR staff wants to meet you and hear about your travel plans before AND after you travel. Give us a call @ (972) 306-3260 and you can always email me @ tami@travelforyouinc.com
Tami, the part everybody has been waiting for as everybody loves a special. I know we got a great deal on the trip we booked with you… What can you offer our newsletter readers?:
I could not agree more!!! Let’s just see who is reading and how much attention they are paying to this section of the interview! For your readers ONLY, I will offer a $50 per person travel coupon. That means a family of 5 can save $250 on a vacation they book with us. This must be a full vacation and will not apply to air only or hotel only bookings. This coupon will be good for 6 months. If your readers call me ANYTIME in the next 6 months I will honor the discount. They just have to refer to the newsletter. We would love to have them call us and find out how hard we will work for them to have a GREAT vacation and save a little as well.
Since I love to eat out, what are some of your favorite restaurants in this area?
We are big Mexican food buffs, and love Cozymels in Plano, but when we are in Cozumel we eat seafood, go figure. If I want a steak we go to Bob’s Steak and Chophouse. For seafood it has to be Papadeaux’s. For Italian, I know a secret place in Carrollton called Sweet Basil. Can you tell I LOVE to eat?!
Music is another great passion of mine. What kind of music do you like to listen to?
I also love music and it is a big part of our lives. I grew up and still do listen to Country, as well as Christian music in the office. It calms us down and helps with the fast pace of a stressful day. Give me a sing-along song and look out!!
I’ve become a huge fan of Country music over the last year or so and find it is what I listen to most of the time now. In any event, anything else you would like to let our readers know about you and your business?
The only thing folks need to know about us that we are working for “YOUR” fun. Travel for “You” Inc really is all about “YOU” and what “YOU” want give us a try. Call TODAY (972) 306-3260 or visit www.travelforyouinc.com

The Frisco Public Library is offering another delicious service to their patrons, and to anyone!
The Kitchen Café at the Frisco Public Library officially opened last week. Cafe owners Donna Hendrix and Charm Faulkner are looking forward to meeting and serving Frisco residents and visitors.
The cafe is an extension of their popular eatery, The Kitchen at Preston Trails on Preston Road in Dallas.
Food is prepared from scratch, and offerings range from sandwiches and salads to soup and baked breakfast goods. There's a children's menu featuring peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hotdogs, and frozen yogurt.
Coffee, cappucino, tea, soda and other drinks are available as well as a monthly soup and homemade baked desserts.
Library Director Dr. Ron Heezen proclaimed their Oriental Chicken Salad the best he's ever eaten, and this month's Tortilla Soup has proved extremely popular.
The cafe will be open 10 am - 5 pm Mon-Friday and from noon- 5 pm on Saturdays. Check out their full menu on the library's Web site at http://www.friscolibrary.com. Click on "cafe" under the "services" drop down menu.
Both Donna and Charm would like to hear feedback, good, bad, or indifferent, from cafe visitors so they can adjust their menu and service to their customers' desires. Stop in on the first floor of the library to check it out!
CCSA songwriter showcase every Thursday night at Poppy’s Pizza in Frisco Square, 7-10 PM. A number of exceptional North Texas performers will present favorites and original music each Thursday night, starting January, 18, 2007. At least three performers will play each Thursday, with both new and returning acts cycling through each week. While it remains a family-friendly environment, this is the first CCSA venue that also serves beer and wine, as well as their famous pizza, so now you can have a glass of wine with your live music. On tap for upcoming performances are such notable acts as Brian Bertrand, C. Aaron Moore, Dan Scott Par, Diane Hart, Faith, Marty Sims, Mudcat Band (with Michael Reames, Chad Ireland and Scott Thomas), Paul Gorman, Ryan Michael Galloway, and others.
If you’re a Frisco musician looking to expand your fan base, consider joining Ryan Michael Galloway as he hosts the “Open Mic Dallas” event every Saturday night at Flips Patio Grill on 114 in Grapevine, from 8:00 - 11:00 PM. This is a safe, supportive environment for musicians who need to brush off the cob-webs, try out new material, get some experience, or just have some fun. Great networking, too. All skill levels welcomed. Dave Craver, the president of Open Mic Entertainment out of Atlanta will be there this Saturday, if you’d like to approach him about becoming a paid host for open mic events.
Faith will soon release her first single CD, Hold On/If God Could Sleep, as mixing is complete and package design and Internet marketing activities are underway. Her latest promotional photo shoot will be done in Frisco, she is a member of the CCSA, and is produced by CCSA co-founder, Ryan Michael Galloway.

A weekend that started great didn’t exactly end the same way for the Tornado. Friday night was a big win gaining them points to be only one point out of 2nd place. Saturday night, all of that crumbled as they fell back down. So, as of today (Thursday) they are 9 points out of 1st place, behind St. Louis and Santa Fe, the way it has been for the majority of the season.
Friday the Tornado started off the scoring very early in the 1st period, which hasn’t happened lately. Tom Brooks pulled off a shorthanded goal only 1 minute into the game with Sean Roadhouse assisting. Ryan Fuller also scored a shorthanded and unassisted goal 32 seconds later on the same power play. Looks like the Tornado are getting better at killing penalties! With the score 2-1 Ryan Fuller scored one more goal on a power play with Jake Newton and Colin Long assisting. The 2nd period was scoreless for both teams to let the Tornado go 3-0 into the 3rd period. The first goal of the 3rd, those players reversed roles. Jake Newton scored 47 seconds in and Ryan Fuller assisted him, on another power play. Just to show everyone the Tornado have improved their non-scoring power plays, Adam Flink put in the 5th goal of the night on a power play like all the other goals. It looked like Thomas Tragust had a shut out, Santa Fe snuck in a goal with about 5 minutes left. The final score was 5-1, shots on goal 36-15 and the 3 stars: Ryan Fuller, Brian Reagan and Tom Brooks.
Saturday wasn’t much of a thriller. Defenseman Lyon Messier started off the game with a nice goal and Tom Brooks and Nielsson Arcibal assisted him. After that one, it was down hill. Santa Fe got 2 goals, one on a power play and one shorthanded. Sean Roadhouse managed the last Tornado goal shorthanded and unassisted in the 2nd period. One more Santa Fe goal was scored in the period and two more in the 3rd. The final ended up 5-2, almost the same as the night before. Shots on goal were 34-22 (Tornado beat them in shots) and the stars were: Bryce Merriman (Santa Fe), Cody Omilusik (Santa Fe) and Sean Roadhouse.
Come out and support your Tornado this Friday and Saturday, as they play the 1st place St. Louis Bandits at 7:30. For tickets call 972-335-9800 or go to www.tornadohockey.com , where you can also listen to the broadcast if you aren’t able to make the game. Have a great weekend!

Preston Trail Community Church has been known as "The Church in the Mall" for over four years now. But starting in 2007 it will be known as "The Church Across from Brinkman Ranch." PTCC began meeting in the AMC Theatres at Stonebriar Centre in September 2002 with forty people on the launch team and high hopes of reaching people who have given up on God or on traditional church. Four years later, the church is moving into the newly refurbished PC Dynamics Building on Frisco's Main Street, half a mile east of Preston Road.
More than 600 people now claim PTCC as their church home and are excited about the move. The new facility can seat 720 in worship, accommodate over 200 youth, and teach and care for over 500 infants and children. The manufacturing format of the original building has been incorporated into the new look. One of the senior pastors, Jim Johnson, calls it "Industrial Hip," while the other senior pastor, Paul Basden, simply says, "If you like Home Depot, you will love our building!"
Please join us for our grand opening on Sunday January 21 at 9:30 and 11:00 AM. For more information on the church and the new facility, visit us online at www.prestontrail.org.

Got bait? Want to fish? The City of Frisco Parks & Recreation Department will be releasing 3,000 Rainbow Trout in the pond at Frisco Commons Saturday, February 3, 2007 starting at 8:00 a.m. This will be the third annual Trick-A-Trout Kid Fish. The park is located at 8000 McKinney Road and the pond is at the north end of the park near the amphitheater.
The Trick-A-Trout Kid Fish is a great opportunity for first time anglers to come out and learn about the sport of fishing. Only kids ages 4-16 will be allowed to fish the first three hours. The average size of the fish will be eight to ten inches and the daily bag limit is five per person.
Everyone is encouraged to “catch ‘em and keep ‘em.” Trout cannot survive when water temperatures rise later this spring, and everyone is encouraged to keep whatever they catch. This event is rain or shine so everyone needs to come prepared for the weather.”
The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department regularly stocks the Commons Pond, as well as the pond at Warren Sports Complex, with channel catfish and largemouth black bass.
Commemorative t-shirts will be given to the first 100 kids at the event. In addition, rod and reel combo sets will be given to the first ten kids to catch a trout.
Tips for successful fishing include using a lightweight line (4-6 lbs. test), small hooks and small sinkers. Baits can include live worms, artificial lures, whole kernel corn, cheese, salmon eggs, marshmallows or your own “family secret”.
Open season for adult anglers will start at 11:00 a.m. that day. Anyone 17 years old and over is required to have a Texas fishing license, which are available at any sporting goods store. After the Trick-A-Trout, people can fish at the pond until the trout are gone. Park hours are from dawn until dusk.

The experience of visiting neighboring cities, playing on different baseball fields, and meeting new people allows coaches and players alike to see different levels of competition and explore learning tools. We have coaches and players from all over including Frisco, McKinney, Little Elm, The Colony, Garland, Dallas, Plano, Carrolton, Richardson, Anna, Melissa, and more playing on teams associated with each select league.
